Privacy Policy

How we protect and handle your information across all VCH properties

Information only

Veterans Central Hub and all VCH properties listed on this page provide general information, organization tools, and educational resources only.

Nothing on our sites or apps is legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, tax advice, or a guarantee of any VA, SSA, or other government outcome.

We do not decide claims, rate disabilities, prescribe treatment, or tell you what you should file. You are responsible for verifying information with official sources and qualified professionals before you act.

If you need legal help with a VA claim, talk to an accredited veterans service organization (VSO), accredited agent, or attorney. If you need medical help, talk to a licensed clinician.

Introduction

Veterans Central Hub ("VCH," "we," "our," or "us") explains in this Privacy Policy how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our website, apps, and browser extension.

This policy applies to all properties listed under "Properties we cover." By using any of them, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

If you do not agree, do not use our services.

Properties we cover

This Privacy Policy applies to all of the following unless a product-specific notice says otherwise:

Veterans Central Hub

The main website at veteranscentralhub.com, including VetDeals, the services directory, blog, benefits guides, housing and employment resources, and related Hub pages.

VCH ClaimBuilder

The claim preparation workspace at claimbuilder.veteranscentralhub.com, including drafting tools, document organization, knowledge panels, and optional paid features.

VCH Symptom Tracker

The symptom logging app at tracker.veteranscentralhub.com, including supporter report links and optional paid features.

VCH Web Extension

The optional browser extension that reads VA.gov claim, rating, and appeal data on your device, may forward track snapshots and decision letter PDFs to ClaimBuilder when you are signed in, and provides shortcuts to Hub and ClaimBuilder.

Not affiliated with VA or the U.S. government

Veterans Central Hub is an independent private platform. We are not part of, endorsed by, affiliated with, or operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense, or any U.S. government agency.

VA.gov and other official government sites have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not speak for VA and cannot access or change your VA records except where you choose to use optional tools (such as the Web Extension or ClaimBuilder import) under your control.

Extension data (on your device by default)

  • VA claim lists, ratings, and appeals read from VA.gov while you are signed in, stored locally in extension storage
  • Extension preferences and local cache
  • Decision letter PDFs are not stored as a long-term library in the extension; they may pass through to ClaimBuilder during sync when you are signed in to Hub in the same browser

Technical and usage data

  • IP address, browser type, device information, and approximate location derived from IP
  • Log data, error reports, and performance metrics
  • Cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookies Policy

ClaimBuilder

ClaimBuilder helps you organize claim-related notes, documents, and drafts. It may use third-party AI services to suggest wording or answer questions based on content you provide.

ClaimBuilder does not file claims, upload evidence, or communicate with VA on your behalf. Drafts, checklists, and AI output are starting points only. You must review everything for accuracy and completeness before you submit anything to VA or share it with a representative.

Track claims in ClaimBuilder can store claims, appeals, and decision letter text synced from the VCH Web Extension when you confirm cloud sync. Track assistant features may use that snapshot and letter text only to help you understand status.

We do not sell your claim workspace data. AI providers process claim content only to provide the features you request. See the Privacy Policy for how claim content is handled.

Guides in ClaimBuilder may link to independent PDF or file tools (for example, browser-based PDF splitters). Those services are not operated by VCH. We are not responsible for files you upload to them or for their privacy and security practices.

Symptom Tracker

Symptom Tracker is for personal symptom logging and recordkeeping. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, emergency service, or VA claim decision tool.

Symptom logs may help you remember details over time, but they do not prove service connection, establish a diagnosis, or guarantee any benefits outcome.

Do not use Symptom Tracker for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having a medical emergency, call 911 or the Veterans Crisis Line (988, then press 1).

VCH Web Extension

The VCH Web Extension is an optional browser add-on. The extension is optional. VA claim lists, ratings, and appeals it reads are stored in your browser by default. Cloud uploads happen only through the optional flows described in this policy and in ClaimBuilder.

The extension does not submit forms to VA.gov and does not store your VA.gov, Login.gov, or ID.me password.

Decision letter PDFs available from VA.gov may be downloaded during a track sync and forwarded to ClaimBuilder when you are signed in to Veterans Central Hub in the same browser. The extension does not keep a long-term letter library on your device.

What stays on your device

By default, VA claim lists, claim details, disability ratings, and appeals that the extension reads from public api.va.gov endpoints are cached in your browser using extension storage. VCH servers do not receive your VA.gov password, Login.gov or ID.me credentials, or your full VA session.

  • Your VA.gov sign-in happens only on VA.gov.
  • Claim, rating, and appeal data used for the tracker tabs remains on your device unless you use an optional cloud sync or import flow (see below).
  • You can remove the extension and its local data at any time from your browser extension settings.

Browser permissions

The extension may request these permissions and uses them as follows:

  • Storage: save VA tracker data and preferences on your device.
  • Cookies: detect when you are signed in to veteranscentralhub.com (and related VCH sites) so Hub and ClaimBuilder features can recognize your account; read VA.gov session context only while you are logged in on VA.gov in the same browser.
  • Scripting: run helper scripts on VA.gov and ClaimBuilder pages you open, such as claim-tracking tools and account bridges.
  • Host access: limited to VA.gov, api.va.gov, and Veterans Central Hub / ClaimBuilder domains needed for those features.

When you choose to send data to VCH

VCH servers do not receive your VA.gov password or full VA session. Optional cloud uploads are separate from local caching:

Populate ClaimBuilder

If you are signed in to Veterans Central Hub and explicitly approve Populate ClaimBuilder (or similar import actions), the extension may send selected items (such as combined disability rating, individual rated conditions, name, date of birth, phone, service history, and the last four digits of an SSN if VA provides them) to your ClaimBuilder account. That transfer requires your checkbox consent each time.

Data sent through Populate ClaimBuilder is used to pre-fill project settings and current ratings (for example, increase claims). It is not sold to third parties.

Track claims cloud sync

If you are signed in to Veterans Central Hub in the same browser and use Sync on VA.gov (for example, the track claims bar or extension tools), the extension may send claims, appeals, timelines, and available VA decision letter PDFs to your ClaimBuilder account on our secure cloud infrastructure.

Decision letter PDFs are stored and processed in ClaimBuilder so you can view them in Track claims and use related assistant features. The extension forwards letters during sync; it does not maintain a separate letter library in extension storage.

ClaimBuilder Track claims asks you to confirm storing track data on your VCH account before showing cloud sync there. You may also enable optional auto-sync to refresh your account when newer extension data is available on that browser.

Cloud data from these flows is used to provide ClaimBuilder and Track claims features. It is not sold to third parties.

Third-party sites

The extension interacts with VA.gov and VCH websites you already use. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We do not control VA.gov or how the federal government handles your information there.

How we use your information

  • Provide, secure, and maintain accounts and features you request
  • Authenticate you across VCH subdomains when you sign in
  • Process optional payments through Stripe
  • Send service messages, security alerts, and newsletters you opt into
  • Analyze aggregate usage to improve reliability and usability
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms
  • Comply with law and protect users, our platform, and the public

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with service providers that help us operate the platform (for example, hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, payment processing, and AI inference). They may use data only to perform services for us under contractual obligations.

VetDeals and service directory partners do not receive your personal Hub account data simply because you viewed a listing. Aggregate reach metrics may be shared at a high level and are not individual marketing profiles.

We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

If you use ClaimBuilder sharing or Symptom Tracker supporter links, you control what others can see through the permissions and links you create.

Third-party tools we mention

Hub and ClaimBuilder guides may mention independent websites or apps (for example, tools to split or extract pages from a PDF). Those services are not operated by VCH and are optional.

If you upload documents to a third-party site, that provider's terms and privacy policy govern what happens to your files. VCH is not responsible for data you choose to upload there, how those services store or share it, or security incidents on their systems.

Use your judgment with sensitive records. Prefer workflows you trust, or prepare files locally when you can.

Service providers

We use trusted vendors to host and operate the platform. They process data on our instructions and may not use it for their own marketing. Examples include:

  • Supabase: Authentication, database, and realtime features
  • Stripe: Payment processing for donations and paid plans
  • Hosting and analytics providers: Security, performance monitoring, and aggregate usage statistics where enabled

Data security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our security measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest where supported
  • Authentication requirements for account access
  • Vendor security reviews for critical infrastructure
  • Incident response procedures

Data retention

We keep information while your account is active and as needed to provide services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

You may request deletion of your account data as described under "Your rights." Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

Your rights

You may request a copy of personal information we hold about you, subject to verification.

Correction

You may update account profile fields in product settings or ask us to correct inaccurate information.

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Deletion may be delayed or limited where we must retain certain records.

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in those messages.

California residents

California residents may have additional rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. VCH does not sell personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA.

To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@veteranscentralhub.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Children's privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
